This past weekend, Frenchie enthusiasts gathered at the Hills Dog Club, Ring 7 & adjacent Undercover Area at Castle Hill Show Ground for our much-anticipated Frenchie Funday. The event was a spectacular success, and I just wanted to extend a huge thank you to everyone who made it such a lovely day!

Meet the Club’s Frenchie Rescues & Successes One of the highlights of the day was meeting our club’s Frenchie rescues and hearing their heartwarming success stories. These tales of triumph over adversity truly showcased the resilience and spirit of our beloved breed.

Fancy Dress Parade and Games Galore The Fancy Dress Parade was a major highlight, with Frenchies strutting their stuff in a variety of creative costumes. From the Animal Kingdom Wonders to the Villains & Superheroes Spectacle, the parade was a delightful sight. The standout moment was undoubtedly the Frenchie astronaut who not only won a round but also captured everyone’s hearts. At one point, our little astronaut had a “problem with gravity” and refused to walk on his lead, prompting laughter and a witty shout from the crowd.

Veterinary Wisdom and Unpredictable Weather Dr. Karen Hedberg was on hand to offer her expert veterinary advice, ensuring all our Frenchies were in tip-top shape. Although the weather threatened rain, the undercover area provided us with peace of mind, allowing the event to proceed without a hitch.

Exclusive Merchandise and Fundraising Success The exclusive Frenchie merchandise was a big hit, and the club managed to raise a significant amount of money. Despite the cold, windy day, the shop thrived, contributing to our fundraising efforts.

Community Enjoyment and Team Effort It was clear from the enthusiastic posts on social media (barring a few spammers!) that the community thoroughly enjoyed the day. All went smoothly thanks to our wonderful team, who ensured everything was perfectly organized.

Culinary Delights and Raffle Fun The sausage sizzle, masterfully grilled by Richard Parry and Pauline, was a culinary delight, especially with the addition of home-grown rosemary to the onions. Two raffles also took place, adding to the fun and excitement.

Entertainment and Special Guests Marika’s expert MCing and fabulous DJing set the perfect tone for the day. Batman, Jimmy, and Joy Division, were an inspired choice. Author EMA Sevil was also present, signing her book “The Adventures of Oscar Le Pooch and Claude de Bono: The Case of the Cat Burglar” with her Frenchies, Claude and Oscar, charming everyone they met.

Financial Contribution The financial success of the event was notable and raised over $1,000 for the club.  We are grateful for all the kind donations and the help of our volunteers.

Looking Ahead Once again, thank you to everyone for your contributions and participation. The Frenchie Funday was a true testament to the strength and camaraderie of our community. We can’t wait to see you all at the next event!
