Hugh Gent OAM and the Election Information Group of Dogs NSW are working on a series of mailouts to provide voters in the upcoming NSW State Elections, with considered information, as to why they should look beyond the emotional propaganda of the Animal Justice Party (AJP) and recognise the real motives behind their campaign to maintain their representation in the Legislative Council of the NSW Parliament. This is the second in the series.
We want to inform the voting public about part of the Animal Justice Party’s (AJP) agenda – the threat of eliminating specific breeds. Some AJP objectives are hidden under vague words, but this one is there for all to see (screenshot below from the AJP Facebook page).
The AJP is calling for a ban on the breeding of brachycephalic (short-faced) dogs such as Pugs, French Bulldogs and others. These breeds have existed for hundreds of years and are currently are popular pets with many families.
The AJP has not researched this subject, or they would find that due to responsible, caring breeders, these breeds can live long and healthy lives as family companions. Using emotive language and images, the AJP pushes their agenda against companion dogs without proof or evidence.
Voting for the AJP means a vote to agree to the loss of some, and ultimately maybe all, breeds of dogs.
Think before you vote, check that the party of your choice is not preferencing the Animal Justice Party, do not just vote above the line.
Please share this widely.
